Tonight, let the surf hold you as you drift to sleep…
After finishing each piece, I snap a few photos to use as wallpapers—and every time, it still amazes me. I love water like this, charged with the power of nature. In nature, every ribbon of moving water carries its own momentum, rushing forward without end. Put your hand into the water and you can feel that force. Even without standing in it, your spirit is struck—and lifted. When the surf pounds the shore, we can hardly contain our exhilaration—that’s the feeling.
But I know the energy in the “water” before me doesn’t come from nature; it comes from my own hands. With a carving knife, I press that energy into the water bit by bit, until it gathers into rivers and pools into lakes and seas. In this moment, I am fulfilled.
As the sun was about to set, the fading light lent the waves a deeper, weightier presence; the shadows made them seem more turbulent, as if you could hear them crashing against the frame.
